So what is your verdict on art books after reading so much about art books? Do you feel that the matter given here is sufficient to make a verdict?
A art books Artilce for Your ViewingWhy You Should Read Good Books According to the Wise Men
When I was a young boy, my uncle Nick taught me the value of reading good books. According to him ?reading good books it can help and motivate you to attain the heights of extra-ordinary success like the story of the ordinary men in the world who became great leaders, great thinkers, and great writers.? Since then, I encouraged and motivated myself the value of reading books. And now, I have found out that reading good book, it?s really a good amusement that can help the young mind like mine to dream towards the higher goal of life on how to conquer the impossible things!
The great philosopher of the 17th Century Rene Descartes, once says, ?Reading all the good books is like a conversation with the finest authors of the past centuries.?
Brian Tracy, the author of the book ?Psychology of Success? commented, ?I have books that I have read 10 or 20 times and that look like rainbows from page to page. They are literally covered with all kinds of colors and marks. Needless to say, the information and ideas in those books has soaked so deeply into my psyche that I can recite much of the material in my dreams.?
I still recall the great Jim Rohn once says, ?People from all walks of life, people with some of the most incredible life experiences, people that have gone from pennies to fortune and from failure to success have taken the time to write down their experiences so that we might share in their wealth of knowledge. They have offered their wisdom and experience so that we can be inspired by it and instructed by it, and so that we can amend our philosophy by it. Their contributions enable us to reset our sail based upon their experiences. They have handed us the gift of their insights so that we can change our plans, if need be, in order to avoid their errors. We can rearrange our lives based on their wise advice.?
I have found out and learned through my readings that books are keys to wisdom?s treasure; books are gates to lend of pleasure; books are paths that upward to lead and books are friends come, let us read.
I still remember Charles Darwin words ?Survival to the fittest.? It?s really true! Life is full of challenges. Everyone who wants to compete in the battles and games of life, He should encourage and motivate himself to goes into strict training, self-discipline, continuing polishing of his attitude and character. He should also encourage and teach himself to continue feeding his mind with the fresh knowledge and wisdom enable not to disqualify in any games of life.
Brian Tracy reminds you beloved readers that, ?You need to read an hour or two each day just to keep current with your field. You need to read newspapers, magazines, newsletters, correspondence and other materials. But you don't get ahead with regular reading. You must invest in the future while you keep current with the present. If you want to get ahead, you must read things that give you new ideas and insights, not merely things that confirm what you already know.?
He further reminds you that, ?Becoming a proficient and persistent reader may not be easy to do so, but it's certainly possible. The future does belong to the competent. Those who know more will always win out over those who know less. The more you read, the better you get. The more you learn, the easier it is for you to learn. And the more you challenge your mind, the smarter you get.?
Before I will conclude my article, I would like you to ponder and recall this dear readers,
A MAN WHO DOES NOT READ GOOD BOOKS HAS NO ADVANTAGE OVER THE MAN WHO CANNOT READ THEM!
Wish you many blessings to come and God Bless!

Sound of Music
Some people may sneer at this 1965 musical, but the truth is the film has earned its status as a perennially watchable romantic-drama, largely on the strength of a fun story and chemistry between stars Julie Andrews and Christopher Plummer. Veteran filmmaker Robert Wise (The Day the Earth Stood Still) mostly stays out of the way of the film's appealing elements, which include a based-on-fact tale of Austria's von Trapp family, who fled their Nazi-occupied country in 1938. Andrews is delightful and even fascinating as Maria, who sheds her tomboyish ways as a novice nun to accept the mantle of adulthood, becoming matron of the motherless von Trapp clan. Plummer is matinee-idol handsome and gives a smart performance to boot, and the cast of young people and kids who make up the singing von Trapp children make a strong impression. Based on the Rodgers and Hammerstein stage musical, the score includes such winners as "Maria" and the future John Coltrane hit "My Favorite Things." --Tom Keogh
Customer Review: DVD-Sound of Music
This movie is my Mother's favorite musical. She loves her dress she wears when she sings on the mountain top. It's a true story.
Customer Review: The Sound of Music (Two-Disc 40th Anniversary Special Edition)
I saw this movie at a theater in Chicago when my husband of 39 years and I were dating. My grandchildren now know and love this movie from watching it on TV. When they learned the music to the movie I decided they should have it to watch whenever they wanted. Good movie, good story, clean!!!!

Apple MacBook Pro MA895LL/A 15.4" Laptop (2.2 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 2 GB RAM, 120 GB Hard Drive, DVD/CD SuperDrive)
Stylishly and intelligently designed for mobile professionals, Apple's MacBook Pro gets a serious speed bump with the new, powerful Intel chipset (dubbed Santa Rosa), which provides a faster Core 2 Duo processor, longer battery life, and native support for 802.11n wireless connectivity. This model (MA895LL/A) also includes a new mercury-free, power-efficient LED-backlit display measuring 15.4 inches and a state-of-the art NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT video card for more realistic graphics for animation and gaming. This MacBook Pro is powered by the new 2.2 GHz Core 2 Duo T7500 processor and 2 GB of 667 MHz DDR2 memory--the fastest portable computer memory currently on the market (June 2007). But some things haven't changed: the trademark stunning aluminum enclosure that's is just one-inch thin, built-in iSight video camera, and Apple's magnetically connected MagSafe power adapter, which safely disconnects when under strain.

This MacBook Pro measures just 1 inch thin and weighs 5.4 pounds. |
Other hardware features include a 120 GB hard drive, 8x SuperDrive for burning multiple disc formats, built-in 10/100/1000 BASE-T Gigabit Ethernet for high-speed networking, Bluetooth 2.0+EDR (Enhanced Data Rate), a FireWire 800 and a FireWire 400 port, an ExpressCard/34 expansion card slot for expansion solutions such as 3G wireless networking, and a DVI video output.
Intel Core 2 Duo Processor
The Intel Core 2 Duo T7500 processor has a 2.2 GHz processor speed, super-fast 800 MHz front-side bus (FSB), and an enormous 4 MB of Smart Cache, an L2 cache that can be shared between the cores as needed. (An L2, or secondary, cache temporarily stores data; and a larger L2 cache can help speed up your system's performance. The FSB carries data between the CPU and RAM, and a faster front-side bus will deliver better overall performance.)
The Intel Core 2 Duo's 128-bit SSE3 vector engine handles 128-bit computations in a single clock cycle, accelerating data manipulation by simultaneously applying a single instruction to multiple data. And its two execution cores are designed to share resources and conserve power, helping it to achieve higher levels of performance since it uses fewer watts

The new 15-inch MacBook Pro offers a new mercury-free, power-efficient LED-backlit display with an antiglare finish that's perfect for color-minded professionals. |
Display and GraphicsThe 15.4-inch widescreen TFT (non-glossy) display offers a native resolution of 1440 x 900 pixels and an antiglare widescreen display that's perfect for color-minded professionals. The new MacBook Pro display is backlit by light emitting diodes (LEDs), which gives it a lighter weight and more power efficiency than the cold cathode fluorescent lamps (CCFLs) which most notebooks employ. It's also better for the environment, thanks to its new mercury-free display.
Video and graphics are powered by the NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT card, which is boosted by 128 MB of GDDR3 SDRAM. GDDR3 (Graphics Double Data Rate, version 3) is a graphics card-specific memory technology that's better able to deliver fluid frame rates for even the most advanced games and applications. The GeForce 8600M GT brings a new level of realism to the MacBook Pro with its 16-lane PCI Express architecture, 16x full screen anti-aliasing, 128-bit High Dynamic Range rendering, and a texture fill rate of up to 8.2 billion per second.
Hard Drive and Memory
The 120 GB Serial-ATA (SATA) hard drive (5400 RPM) provides more than enough space to store business-related documents and presentations, as well as offers space for a large digital audio and video library. This SATA hard drive also quickens the pace with a higher speed transfer of data--akin to FireWire and USB 2.0. The 2 GB of PC5300 DDR2 RAM (two SO-DIMMs of 1 GB) have an industry-leading 667 MHz speed, and the RAM capacity can be increased to a whopping 4 GB.
Wireless Connectivity
The built-in 802.11n wireless networking provides up to five times the performance and twice the range of 802.11g, but it's also backward-compatible with 802.11a/b/g routers, enabling you to communicate with the a wide variety of Wi-Fi resources. It works seamlessly with the new AirPort Extreme with 802.11n. Use the built-in Bluetooth wireless technology to connect to your PDA or cell phone, synchronize addresses, or download pictures from your cell phone. You can also use a wireless headset for iChat audio chats and VoIP calls as well as quickly share files with a colleague.
Video Conferencing with Built-in iSight
Artfully placed in the display bezel is an iSight camera, which enables easy video conferencing as well as allows you to snap pictures of yourself and create video podcasts. Using the iChat AV application, video conferencing is integrated into your iChat buddy list, so initiating a video conference is a breeze. iChat also lets you hold audio chats with up to 10 people and provides high-quality audio compression and full-duplex sound so conversation can flow naturally. For video podcasting, you can record a short clip using the iSight camera, then use iWeb to create a video blog entry or post your GarageBand-recorded podcast.
Apple Innovations

The magnetically connected MagSafe power adapter breaks cleanly away, without damage to either the cord or the MacBook Pro, if you trip over the cord.. |
The MacBook Pro is the culmination of years of refining hardware and software design to an integrated art. One of Apple's most celebrated innovations is the MagSafe power adapter connector with offers a magnetic connection instead of a physical one. So, if you happen to trip over a power cord, you won't send MacBook Pro flying off a table or desk--the cord simply disconnects, without damage to either the cord or the system. As an added nicety, this means less wear on the connectors.

Using two-fingered scrolling, you can easily scroll around your documents or open contextual menus with one hand. |
The trackpad can tell if you've got one finger on the pedal, or two. With two, you can easily scroll around your documents or open contextual menus. When you need right-click functionality, simply open ÒKeyboard and MouseÓ in System Preferences and enable the secondary click preference.
The MacBook Pro has battery life that rivals most notebooks in its class. If you'd like to make that battery last even longer, Mac OS X has a few tricks up its sleeve. Go to System Preferences, click Energy Saver, and change battery optimization from Normal to Better Battery Life. Or tell MacBook Pro to reduce its screen brightness and give yourself a little more time untethered.
And with the included Apple Remote and Front Row software, you can show off your latest photos and access your iTunes music and playlists from across the room. You can also use it to watch downloaded movies and TV episodes as well as control playback of DVD movies. The Apple Remote features a minimalist six buttons--just press the Menu button to activate Front Row and begin to navigate through your media. You can even use the remote to control Keynote presentations in iWork '06.

Customer Review: MacBook Pro
The MacBook Pro is great, looks great and works well. The only thing is the new operating system wasn't loaded to the laptop but the disk was included. Other than that, everything is great. Love it.
Customer Review: MacBook Pro
I bought this computer one month ago and the price has dropped $305! I bought an Apple for its reputation as a reliable system. This one crashes regularly, especially when I attempt to use the help function. Also, it does not pick up wireless signals unless they are very, very strong. My six-year old Toshiba works better than this machine. Definitely not worth the premium paid.

Customer Review: Great for Mac users!
Very easy set up. Fast and easy. The only negative comments seem to come from PC users. Maybe the problems are not the hard drive- they are the operating system. If you have a MAC buy it! It is great!
Customer Review: Smaller than it appears but The size I need it
I was unsure which one to get, but I found this and it is good, I can use it USB or Firewire, the sSata is not really usefull for me now, the plus thing I found on it is that it turns on and off automatically with the computer, so no need to go and click on the power botton.

Customer Review: Very Happy With It
I bought this for my MacBook Pro 17". It is clear so the light-up keyboard still work perfectly. The original keyboard felt a little flimsy, so this product actually give the keyboard a little more feel to it. Prevent any dust/spill from geting into the keyboard. I just hope they make another one that actually cover the wrist rest area. My wife's cover for macbook has that and it feels great on your wrist.
Customer Review: Worth it!
This skin is great. It's easy to type with it on the keys. It's see through and keeps crumbs, dust and other stuff from getting down in the keys on your keypad.

Customer Review: External Hard Drive
The Western Digital 2.0 GB external hard drive is great. It backs up my computer automatically every night with tons or room to spare to download music, movies, etc. I highly recommend this hard drive.
Customer Review: Ticking Time Bomb
I received this drive for Christmas. It lasted two and a half months of light use before failing inexplicably. Blinking front indicator light, but the drive won't spin up and no computer I connect it to will recognize it. The day before it worked fine. Tech support was unhelpful, and I'm loathe to exchange the unit for another from the manufacturer. The drive is sealed inside the plastic shell, making removal difficult. I would not use this drive for anything valuable, it's cheaply made and untrustworthy.
Taboo
Taboo
It sounds so simple: get your team to name common words without voicing a few choice descriptors. But could you describe a wristwatch without mentioning time, wrist, or clock? Taboo rewards those who think--and speak--fast. The team that correctly identifies as many words as possible in a minute (measured with an hourglass timer) wins. If a member of the opposing team, armed with the blaring buzzer, catches the clue giver using any of the taboo words, a point is deducted from the group's score. It's a good idea to separate people who know each other well, because their familiarity can be too great an advantage. If the clue is spinach, prompting with "Mom made this every Monday" just doesn't seem fair, though it is permissible according to the rules. Playing Taboo requires an AA battery and a sense of humor--you'll need them both! The timer is included. Taboo is for four or more players. --Leah Ball

Customer Review: beware of seller: deals of today
After leaving the negative feedback below, deals of today emailed me and said they would not refund unless I remove the negative feedback warning potential customers(victims as far as I am concerned). They still claim that the item that came in a pasted together box with several components missing is new,how hard is it for anyone to figure out that is a lie!Seller "deals_of_today", aka "amazcentral", aka "greatbuys" and who knows how many other aliases they use to sell under, sells used items as new. I bought what was suppose to be a new wireless keyboard. It was not! It came in a box taped together, no manual, no driver, not even the right packaging inside of the taped together box. I know this because I bought a new one from amazon directly for my mother and it was in the manufacturers box with the instructions and the driver to install so you could use it. I also looked at it new at Best Buy. I emailed the seller several times, they agreed to pay postage back and refund in full but did not do so. They still say the unit is new. Liars! It is so obviously NOT new! New comes in the original box with all the parts. Do not buy from these people. They are not honest.
Customer Review: Too many rules and it ties up your computer. U will never be able to sell it to anyone
This Intuit software is like all intuits. You are the sole owner. YOu have to register. You have to update. You have to allow intuit to monitor your business by the internet. You have to check in often. If you miss any one of these your computer will no longer be able to use any Quickbooks again. You will not be able to sell it to anyone. You will have to buy more software or another computer just to go back and use quickbooks once again. I lost $79 and many long hours on the phone to fix my case. All calls go to Pakistan. I was not allowed to talk to anyone in resistration or licenseing. This is not an American company.

Selling Private Label Books and the Importance of Web Site Design
There are of course many different ways to make a good living on the internet, and there are many great businesses that simply could not have existed before the internet came into being. The internet is a powerful tool, for business people as well as ordinary users, and those who are savvy at web design can greatly increase their chances of finding the perfect business opportunity.
One great way for savvy web entrepreneurs to make a great living on the internet is to sell private label books. Obtaining a steady stream of ready to sell private label can open up multiple streams of revenue, provide additional opportunities for affiliate income and relieve the stress of the normal nine to five job. Selling private label books is a great way to give customers the information resources they need at a price they can afford. This kind of information can be very valuable to those who need it, and it can be very lucrative to those who are able to provide it.
Of course the web based nature of such a business requires that the web site be designed to be user friendly, easy to use and very intuitive. Even though more and more of us are becoming more and more computer savvy, there will always be a sizeable percentage of people who are not skilled at computer use. It is vital to design the web site with the needs of the newbie, as well as the needs of the experienced web professional in mind.
One important thing to consider when designing the private label book sale web site is that the web site should be easily scalable as sales increase. While many private label book sale web sites start off slowly, many will quickly grow, from hundreds of books sold to thousands, to tens or hundreds of thousands in just a short time. It is important to design a web site that can grow and change as the needs of the business grows and changes, and to find a web host who can handle the additional traffic easily and with no problems that would affect end users. Designing a user friendly web site can be just as essential to success as finding the right private label books to sell.

Hannah Montana "Best of Both Worlds" Singing Doll
Hannah Montana "Best of Both Worlds" Singing Doll
Since debuting as the Disney Channel's highest rated premiere, Hannah Montana has won over fans with a mix of playful antics, fresh looks, and chart-topping music. The story centers on young Miley Stewart (a girl-next-door type fans can relate to) who just happens to lead the secret life of pop star Hannah Montana (something fans can aspire to). This singing doll is fashioned on her pop sensation persona and includes the clothing, accessories, and even hit music from the show.
|
| Hannah comes with a mic, brush, poster, and back stage pass. |
The 13-inch-tall Hannah is wearing an authentic, albeit miniature, version of an outfit she actually wore on her sold out 70-city tour: black boots, shimmery leggings, a tiered mini-skirt, a print T-shirt, black leather jacket, and bracelet. Other accessories that come with the doll include a small brush to help style her long locks, a backstage pass for you to wear, a poster, and a microphone for Hannah to hold while performing. This last piece is crucial because when it is lifted to Hannah's mouth, the doll actually sings the show's theme song (and her most popular hit) "Best of Both Worlds."
If you prefer her song "The Other Side of Me" there is another Hannah doll available separately. And if you want to reenact her live show in your living room, check out the Hannah Montana In-Concert Pop Stage.
Customer Review: Hannah Montana Doll
My daughter desperately wanted this doll for Christmas. She was thrilled with it. So far it has withstood being completly undressed, redressed, undressed, hair brushed at least a thousand times and playing the recording in the doll at least ten thousand times. My daughter loves her Hannah Montana and the doll appears to be taking the playing wear and tear fairly well. Now if I could only find more outfits for her I'd be happier. Overall a well made doll.
Customer Review: Hannah Montana Singing Doll
This doll was a gift for my six year old niece. She loves that the doll sings although it is only a short clip. She also liked the outfit on the doll as well as the pretend back stage pass.

Customer Review: not good for bindings
I bought this clear cookbook holder to replace a similar one that broke after years of daily use. This new one really squashes down the pages and it is very difficult to use for thicker cookbooks. I'm worried that it will eventually lead to unnecessary wear and tear on the bindings.

A Featured cd books ArticleMake Extra Money Selling Ebooks Online
Can you get rich selling ebooks? Yes ofcourse, you can earn a very nice income selling them online.
Ebooks are electronic versions of printed material that can contain text, sound and images. The profit potential from selling them is high because the start up and operating expenses are very low.
You can even make more money if you write some of your own ebooks. Your writing skills do not have to be stellar. There are online sources that will take your research and craft an ebook for you. Some of these companies even take care of marketing, payments and shipping.
Buying Ebooks for Sale
You can purchase them from authors online. eBay is another source for buying ebooks with resell rights. Your customers can also sell these books, thus providing an incentive for them to do business with you.
Make sure the ebooks you buy or write yourself are full of useful information and resources. Some of them are nothing more than ads and sales pitches for the writers products. These ads will turn off customers and decrease repeat business.
Do your research to determine what types of information people are seeking. Getting rich selling informative products onlne will depend on the topics covered, customer base and marketing campaign.
Make sure to do an online search for the title before buying them for resale. If lots of web sites are selling the book, its probably a popular title and will be a good seller. It also helps to sell ebooks that cater to a specific market niche. Search online forums and other group sites to locate potential target markets for niche titles. Contact these groups with a short email inviting them to visit your site. Offer an incentive such as 20% off first purchase to increase site traffic.
Ebooks about current trends or hot topics will generate more income. Your income will really get a boost if you can spot the next big topic and write or purchase to sell before the competition saturates the market.
Marketing Extras
You can use a common template for your ebooks web site or sell them on an existing site you already have. However, to stand out from the competition, create your own web site to sell these products. Always add new titles to your stock to keep old customers coming back and to attract new ones. Use email to notify customers of new titles and special sales. Offer discounts on slow moving titles.
Affiliate programs are another way to get rich selling ebooks. The affiliate pays you a commission for the quantities you sell. To make money from ebooks you write, start your own affiliate program.
There are plenty of online and print books that will help you learn how to get in on the sales bandwagon. Do yourself a favour and search online. You will definitely find a good one.

Customer Review: Spanish Workbook
This Spanish workbook immerses you a bit too fast. They randomly throw words and verbs at you in no particular order. It's very confusing to someone who has no background in Spanish. Once you've already taken a little Spanish, it's a great workbook. But don't try to use it as your only guide.
Verilux Natural Spectrum Deluxe Portable Lamp
Verilux Natural Spectrum Deluxe Portable Lamp
Customer Review: An excellent reading lamp
I've been using this as a reading lamp in both my home and work offices for about the past six months, and generally have been happy with it. The other posters certainly are right about the sticky residue, although the company name doesn't bother me, I guess, as I'm withing viewing range of my Samsung monitor, Jamo speakers, Logitech keyboard, Brother printer, etc., etc.)
I haven't thought about this lamp as being portable, given that it weighs over 3 pounds, but if you read a lot it might be worth taking along. It certainly is bright, but not overly so. I find the natural spectrum light makes the material easier to read and causes less eyestrain than regular incandescent or fluorescent light. The bulb does put out some heat, so be careful.
There's one annoying quirk. In my office, the lamp is near my Tivoli table radio. When the lamp is on, it causes an electronic buzzing on the FM band. There may be some filtering I can do to solve this problem, but I haven't found it yet.
Customer Review: Not the product I expected
I bought this product specifically because it was originally described as being/having "mood-brightening Natural Spectrum light." I thought it would help on the gloomy Pacific Northwest winter days. I got it on a Friday sale price, so it seemed like a good value for the product description given here.
The lamp just arrived (a few days ago - when I originally submitted this review), and the product's FAQ sheet states this product is "designed only to provide excellent quality light for daily tasks and hobbies. This lamp does *not* offer the correct level of light intensity specified by the National Institute of Mental Health for the treatment of Seasonal Affective Disorder (S.A.D.).
The product literature packed with the lamp has no mention at all that this product offers "mood-brightening" light. Because of this glaring misrepresentation, I am currently debating whether to the return the lamp.
I agree with the other reviewer that the adhesive labels (there are two) are VERY sticky and difficult to remove completely. I used a combination of methods to remove the adhesive residue.
And I agree with the comments about the company name being printed on the front of the lamp. When I saw it in the picture, I thought it had to be some kind of company watermark or logo for the stock photo ONLY, so I was shocked to see "Verilux" actually printed/embossed into the lamp housing, in a very prominent location on the front of the lamp. Very cheesy, for a lamp of this price point and quality.
If you're looking for a "clean" bright light, in a stylish, portable lamp, this is not a bad choice. But if you're looking for a full-spectrum light that does offer some light "therapy," this is probably the wrong choice. The company does have other, "therapeutic" lighting options, but at a higher price point.
Nov 1, 2006 UPDATE - I was concerned enough about the original, misleading product description that I submitted my concerns to Amazon. I now see that the description had been revised since submitting those concerns. I want to thank Amazon for their very prompt response in correcting the product description, which should help other buyers make a more-informed decision.
Fisher-Price T.M.X. Tickle Me Extreme Cookie Monster
Fisher-Price T.M.X. Tickle Me Extreme Cookie Monster
Tickle your funny bone with this hilarious Cookie Monster toy. Recommended for ages 18 months and older, he falls backwards, then rolls to the right and left while laughing hysterically.

Tickle Cookie Monster's belly and he falls to the floor in laughter. View larger. View side view. |
| What We Think Fun Factor:
Durability: (what this means)
The Good: Full of fun phrases and hilarious actions
The Bad: Doesn't work so well on carpet
In a Nutshell: Cute, huggable toy, great for young children | At a Glance Ages: 1-1/2 years and up Requires: 6 AA batteries (included)
Meet T.M.X. Cookie Monster Part of the new Tickle Me Extreme friends, Tickle Me Cookie Monster is every bit as charming and fun as his popular friend, T.M.X. Elmo. When you touch his belly, this plush 11-inch doll falls backwards and giggles as he rocks back and forth. He even gets back up on his own! With googly eyes and soft blue fur, this Cookie Monster doll is cute, huggable, and a great toy for young children. He comes packaged in a cardboard carrying case with a handle at the top and a cutout to poke his ticklish tummy. Cookie Monster performs best on a hard, flat surface and requires six AA batteries (included) to bring him to life.
Laughter Is Contagious
Each T.M.X. friend has its own unique actions. The T.M.X. Cookie Monster features silly gyrations followed by humorous phrases. This motorized doll is so soft, kids can pick it up, snuggle with it, then put it down and watch it wiggle. It only takes two tickles to send Cookie Monster into hysterical laughter and kids soon find themselves giggling along. This doll has an incredible likeness to the actual Sesame Street character. Parents can add to the fun with T.M.X. Elmo or T.M.X. Ernie, sold separately.
Tickle Test
During the tickle test, it became easy to see why the T.M.X. friends are in such demand. When you tickle Cookie Monster's belly, he doubles over in hysterics. The second time he is tickled, he falls over backwards, rolls from left to right, then gets back up again, saying, "That was good." The doll moves best on a hard, flat surface and struggles a little when placed on carpet. But that was the only setback discovered during the hands-on testing process. A discreet on-off switch on his foot allows you to turn the doll off, if you're in need of some quiet time. Overall, T.M.X. Cookie Monster makes a great toy for its target age range. Even adults will crack a smile as this jolly character shakes and rolls with laughter.

Customer Review: Worth it if under $20
I got a super deal on this around Christmas - I think it was only about $13! It was definitely worth $13. At first it made my one year old cry. I think she thought there was something wrong with Cookie. But then she got used to him and she loves him. He made my husband and I laugh like crazy the first time we tried him out, especially when he says at the end "Oh, THAT GOOD ONE!" I agree with others; he is a big battery hog. I haven't changed out the batteries yet, so he can't move around as well right now. But he does still bend over and shake a bit, and his voice is still good. So it doesn't really matter to a one-year-old! I am glad we got it, but might not be as thrilled if he had been over $20 (as he is as of this writing.)
Customer Review: Cookie Monster made us smile!
i gave this toy to my goddaughter who's a year old - at first she was hesitant because of the tumbling action - but the laughing sound and the voice of cookie monster made her smile - and us adult swoon! Soon after the first jitters, she was already playing with it and enjoying it! Her parents and I grew up on Sesame Street and its wonderful to see that it still has a wonderful effect on the present generation.

Customer Review: Racist
A long time ago an African American friend criticized this movie because it was racist. I'm white and couldn't understand her perspective, that was before VHS and it was impossible to view the movie when I wanted to. Years past and I had kids, we rented it one day and I was horrified at the lyrics sung by Louie, the ape. Do you really want your children listening to an ape singing (with an exagerated Southern accent), "I want to be a man... An ape like me can learn to be human...Someone like me can learn to be someone like you..." It is very racist and we didn't finish the movie. Think about it.

Tickle your funny bone with this hilarious Cookie Monster toy. Recommended for ages 18 months and older, he falls backwards, then rolls to the right and left while laughing hysterically.

A Featured hard to find books ArticleBooks for Writers: "The Chicago Manual of Style"
The Chicago Manual of Style, now in its 15th edition, is the style bible for anyone in the book industry who works with the nitty-gritty of the words on the page: copy editors, proofreaders, indexers, book designers, etc. And it should be a part of any author's reference library.
It's not a thin, prettily designed book of common grammar mistakes that's marketed to the average writer. (See Eats, Shoots and Leaves.) It's not a book you'll read cover to cover--it's interesting to us word geeks to read sections here and there, but mostly you'll look up grammar or style issues as they come up. It's a no-nonsense, no-frills compendium of everything under the sun related to putting a book together, from the distinction between "that" and "which" to the physical process of typesetting and printing a book--both of which you should know about, whether you're working with a publishing house or you're self-publishing.
In fact, if you're self-publishing, you have no excuse for not investing in the Chicago Manual. Other media (newspapers, magazines, etc.) use other style guides, but Chicago is used almost without exception by book publishers. So if you're your own book publisher, you need it. Different self-publishing or print-on-demand companies offer varying degrees of copyediting or design help, but often you simply set up your book as a PDF file to be printed as is. So why not make it look as much like a "real" book as possible?
Chicago takes you through the whole process: writing tips and grammar rules, page design and layout (have you ever noticed that new chapters almost always begin without a paragraph indent?), printing and binding. You can't justify being without it, so don't even try. And it might even give you a few ideas for book industry jobs to help pay the bills: ever thought of taking a class on book indexing?
In short, everyone in book publishing uses Chicago, so if you want to know what those in-the-know know, you should be familiar with it, too.

Ducktales The Movie: Treasure Of The Lost Lamp
Ducktales The Movie: Treasure Of The Lost Lamp
TREASURE OF THE LOST LAMP is the first full-length feature film starring Scrooge McDuck, Huey, Dewey, Louie, and Webbigail Vanderquack! The Egyptian desert becomes a nonstop adventure zone as the DuckTales team pursues the legendary treasure of Collie Baba's ancient pyramid! When the daring ducks make off with the riches, little do they know there's a magic lamp among the gems ... a lamp with a wacky, wish-granting Genie inside. When Merlock, the evil sorcerer, follows them back to Duckburg, an incredible battle erupts over the lost lamp! But in the thrilling climax, Scrooge and the nephews learn a lesson far more valuable than even the world's greatest treasure!
Customer Review: A quacker of a little "treasure" from Disney.
While Disney has not been producing much of high quality animated films these days, few will deny that in the late 1980's and mid 1990's, the Mouse House was in its heyday. After a period of turmoil without their former founder, the company had risen to stardom with its 1989 musical, THE LITTLE MERMAID. The success of that film led to other equally acclaimed masterpieces, notably BEAUTY AND THE BEAST, which was fortunate enough to win the Oscar for Best Picture. In the period between these two works of art, though, the company released two animated features that were pleasant diversions but didn't ignite ticket sales at the box office. One of them was THE RESCUERS DOWN UNDER, a non-musical sequel to a mediocre 1970 film (which actually improved on its predecessor in many ways). The other--and even lesser known--production was DUCKTALES: THE MOVIE--TREASURE OF THE LOST LAMP.
An unashamedly small, likeable film, DUCKTALES--THE MOVIE did not quack up much box office gold in its theatrical release. Based on Disney's popular animated series of its time, this theatrical feature--as you might expect--plays very much like an extended episode of the series, with slightly beefed up production values. Audiences unfamiliar with the show are most likely to be confused with its unexplained references to terms like "Junior Woodchuck"--a problem not uncommon with other theatrical spin-offs of television shows, e.g. THE CARE BEARS, TRANSFORMERS, MY LITTLE PONY, etc. The stars of DUCKTALES, which include self-proclaimed "quad-zillionaire" Scrooge McDuck (impeccably voiced by Alan Young) and his mischievous nephews, Hewy, Dewey, and Louie, are household names with many people, but their co-stars--which include bumbling pilot Launchpad McQuack and Webby (Webbigail for you completists)--are only familiar with those who have tuned into an episode or two of the show. This is probably what sealed DUCKTALES--THE MOVIE's box office fate; it caters more to fans of the show rather than a mainstream audience.
That said, DUCKTALES--THE MOVIE is a very pleasant way to spend 74 minutes. The film bounces along at a fast pace and maintains a kinetic sense of energy, particularly the opening and climactic sequences. And there's nothing at all about the film that may be deemed too unsettling or inappropriate for children (what, you expected an R-rated material from Disney?).
The best way to describe the plot is a mixture of INDIANA JONES adventure and Disney's own ALADDIN. The first 20 minutes of the movie, in which the ducks--on a hunt for Collie Baba's treasure--find themselves braving a booby-trap infested hidden pyramid and outrunning scorpions, recall the roller-coaster excitement of the aforementioned Spielberg-Lucas series. Things get slightly slower around the middle when the ducks unleash the contents of a magic lamp containing, yes, a genie. Voiced with zest and humor by Rip Taylor, this Genie may not have the adult appeal of, say, Robin Williams' Genie in ALADDIN, but he manages to extract a giggle from the audience without being too over-the-top. His lively presence--and the nephews' dilemma of trying to keep his identity a secret from their miserly uncle--makes it easier to sit through the middle portion. The final 20 minutes of the film, in which Scrooge and company attempt to recapture their money bin from a compulsively greedy weasel, Dijon (Richard Libertini), only to deal with the Genie's former master, Merlock, a centuries old villainous sorcerer with the commanding voice of Christopher Lloyd, builds to a high-flying (literally) climax that I've rarely seen other Disney films match.
Based on the above description of the plot, it is tempting to dismiss this movie as an inferior imitation of ALADDIN, particularly where the Genie sub-plot is concerned, but since this movie was made long before that film, it instead holds up as an original story. Technically, DUCKTALES isn't exactly on the same level as, say, THE LITTLE MERMAID or other Disney Renaissance features, but then again it was hardly intended to be. The animation, produced by the now defunct Disney Animation Studios in Paris, is appropriately matched and showcases some spectacularly exciting effects, particularly any moment when Merlock morphs into eagles, rats, bears, cockroaches, panthers, etc., and especially at the climax when Scrooge's money bin is transformed into a creepy-looking castle. Simultaneously, though, the artwork is more "simplified" than the usual Disney treatment--not that it is a bad thing for this type of feature, but it's noticeable in places.
More pleasing about the film is its kinetic musical score, composed by David Newman (THE BRAVE LITTLE TOASTER and ANASTASIA). This is one of the finest ever written for a Disney film, and it's a shame it hasn't been commercially released on CD. It should also be noted that there are no songs in this film (unless you count the DUCKTALES theme over the closing credits)--this gives DUCKTALES the distinction of being one of Disney's "songless" productions (other notable entries including THE BLACK CAULDRON, THE RESCUERS DOWN UNDER, and ATLANTIS--THE LOST EMPIRE).
Although not on par with Disney's better classics, DUCKTALES--THE MOVIE: TREASURE OF THE LOST LAMP is a breezy, fun romp that actually holds up pretty well even after its initial 1990 release. It's too bad that Disney reduced themselves to churning out direct-to-video sequels, none of which matched the excitement or energy of this film or even the heart or human appeal of A GOOFY MOVIE, another inspired by a TV series movie. Compared to most of these other pointless secondary chapters, DUCKTALES--THE MOVIE remains fresh, funny, and enjoyable, especially for youngsters and, yes, fans of Disney-cartoons in general.

Customer Review: baby book
This book is great for a baby teething. Corners of pages are rubberized for that "everything" goes in my mouth.
Customer Review: Teether book
Cute idea for teething. The spine works great for chewing and the sides of the book. Doesn't stay open very well as a book, pages kind of slap back closed if you don't hold it open yourself. Overall cute toy for the price.

Customer Review: One heck of a product.
I've been an avid fan of WD for years. Whenever I did have a problem with any of the drives I was always able to get assistance from support line.
I bought the triple connectivity drive (eSATA.) I have to tell you this is one of the quietest drives I've ever (not) heard. It's fast and friendly and works like a charm.
Highly recommended!!!

A New Journey
A New Journey
Second only to Riverdance as an international Irish showbiz phenomenon, previous installments of this Platinum-selling extravaganza have become beloved PBS standards. The original buxom quartet of female singers, Lisa, Maev, Orla, and Chloe, have duly been joined by Hayley and are, as usual, backed by a full symphony orchestra and choir, plus enough traditional instruments (the house fiddler, Mairead, is a powerhouse) to keep things legit. The material ranges from folkloric ("Dúlaman" is best known from Clannad's legendary rendering), to a standard from another Celtic nation ("Caledonia," Dougie McLean's love letter to his native Scotland), to classical lite (Handel's poignant "Laschia Ch'io Pianga"), to movie hits ("Somewhere Over The Rainbow" in a delicately lovely, a cappella, close-harmony treatment), to homegrown New Age (Enya's "Newgrange"). Most tracks are produced to turn, presented in the aural equivalent of Technicolor or day-glo, in which colors pop while diverging ever so slightly from nature. In short, although the album offers fresh material, it covers old ground -- but this is exactly what the act's target audience expects and desires. Fans of acoustic folk would likely find the prevailing aesthetic a touch garish, but fans of Sarah Brightman and Il Divo will be diverted and thrilled. The deluxe package offers four bonus tracks, three of them live, plus a silver claddagh charm. --Christina Roden
